Icy, icier, Ice Age. The Last Glacial Period started about 110,000 years ago and left its mark on the landscape as we know it today. When it ended, people started – quite literally – to move around. The first crop and stock farmers settled on the Marchfeld 7,500 years ago. They shaped nature into a cultural landscape and began to domesticate wild animals.
